Bend Fire Calls for Snow-Free Hydrants Now

**Bend Fire & Rescue Urges Community to Keep Hydrants Clear of Snow**

**Bend, Oregon** – With more storms predicted in the coming days, Bend Fire & Rescue is seeking the community's help in keeping fire hydrants accessible amidst the snow. Officials report that hydrants often become buried as snow accumulates or as berms are created during roadway plowing operations.

Clearing snow from around hydrants is critical. Minutes count during emergencies, and the time it takes for firefighters to dig out a hydrant could instead be used extinguishing fires and protecting property.

The fire department advises clearing at least three feet of space around each hydrant to ensure emergency responders can access them quickly when needed.

“Our firefighters appreciate your help,” said Bend Fire & Rescue. “Thank you for being our hydrant heroes!”

If residents notice a snow-covered hydrant, Bend Fire & Rescue encourages them to dig it out to support first responders and their efforts to keep everyone safe.
