Tropical Storm Helene Brings Winds and Heavy Rain

Tropical Storm Helene has formed as of 11 AM EDT on Tuesday, September 24, 2024. According to the Clearwater Fire & Rescue Department, there are currently issued wind speed probabilities for the storm over the next 120 hours, lasting until 8 AM EDT on Sunday, September 29.

The forecast indicates the potential for tropical-storm-force winds, defined as sustained winds of 39 mph or greater, from this tropical cyclone. Residents are advised to secure loose items around their properties today in preparation for the storm.

Helene is predicted to make landfall in either the Big Bend or Panhandle area of Florida. Despite the expected location of landfall, gusty winds and heavy rainfall are anticipated in surrounding areas. Residents are encouraged to monitor the latest forecasts for updates on the storm's progression.
