Bend City Council works to preserve trees in growing city.

The Bend City Council is looking to save more trees as the city grows. They propose changes that would require new developments on 1 acre or more to preserve large trees. If this is not possible, developers would need to plant new trees or pay a fee for trees removed. The money collected from the fee would be used to plant more trees around Bend. Public meetings will be held in June to discuss these proposed changes, including a Planning Commission Work Session on June 3, a Planning Commission Public Hearing on June 10, and a City Council Public Hearing on June 20.
