Akron-Summit Library Week Events Set

Akron-Summit County Public Library (ASCPL) announced a set of programs scheduled for this week at its branches, including activities on Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18.

Talk with Ideastream is scheduled for Wednesday, June 17 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at the Green Branch Library. Ideastream News said it wants to hear what the community has to say about local, state, and national politics ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Akron ZooMobile will stop at the library on Wednesday, June 17 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Richfield Branch Library. The program is also planned for Thursday, June 18 from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at the Main Library, with the library saying visitors can see “some of our zoo friends.”

Myanmar String Puppet Show is planned for Wednesday, June 17 from 3:30pm to 4:30pm at the North Hill Branch Library. ASCPL said attendees can discover Myanmar’s string-puppet tradition, meet handcrafted characters, enjoy storytelling, and learn how the art form works.

For children in grades K-5, ASCPL is also running Bubble Lab: Explore, Create, Pop! The library described the event as hands-on with stations including giant bubbles and bubble art. The library said people can register online, in person, or by phone at 330.864.5721, and provided an event page at https://services.akronlibrary.org/event/16453227.

Another program listed is Literary Legends: Sherlock Holmes, featuring Actor Jim Knight. The library said the event includes background on Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s influence and a performance of dramatic pieces from classic Holmes mysteries.
