Bend-La Pine Announces Educator and Staff Finalists
Bend-La Pine Schools in Bend, Oregon has announced the finalists for Educator and Support Staff of the Year. The awards honor parents, students, and staff-nominated team members who have made significant contributions to the school mission of educating thriving students.
Ben Becker, a teacher from Juniper Elementary School, has been named as a finalist for Educator of the Year. Principal Dan Wolnick described Becker as a creative educator who believes students can be just as creative when given the opportunity. Wolnick noted that Becker not only excels in academic teaching but also uses different methods of learning by launching initiatives like the Juniper RAD Bike Project. According to Wolnick, Becker helps create a positive and supportive environment where students feel safe to take risks and learn from their mistakes.
Finalist announcements were made as part of Bend-La Pine Schools' ongoing celebration of its educators and support staff. Additional finalists will be featured on the schools' social media pages, and the winners will be announced in October.
