**Union County Announces Launch of Pediatric Behavioral Health Access Expansion Initiative**
Union County, NJ – Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded, Chairwoman of the Union County Board of County Commissioners, has officially launched the Pediatric Behavioral Health Access Expansion initiative, also known as the UPBEAT Program, in collaboration with Atlantic Health System. This program is part of the 2024 “Growing Together in Union County” initiatives.
The UPBEAT Program aims to create a comprehensive support network for children and adolescents in Union County, focusing on providing prompt access to specialized behavioral health services. The initiative seeks to reduce the reliance on emergency departments and improve outcomes for young patients.
Operated by Atlantic Health System’s Overlook Medical Center in Summit, the program will serve as a “one-stop” resource. It will integrate services through partnerships with schools, primary care providers, and community outreach efforts. The initiative particularly emphasizes addressing disparities and prioritizing underserved communities, highlighting the importance of mental health in overall well-being.
The launch of the UPBEAT Program is part of the county's commitment to fostering a healthier, more inclusive environment for all Union County residents.
