Columbus City Schools in Columbus, Ohio, has introduced a new initiative at Parkmoor Elementary to enhance reading instruction. According to Kelly Rivers, the Executive Director of Teaching and Learning, more than 1,500 teachers have been trained in the LETRS program.

LETRS focuses on the five essential components of reading: phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and fluency. The school district aims to strengthen literacy skills among students by equipping its staff with an understanding of the science of reading.
