Bend-La Pine Schools is celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15 to October 15. This month is dedicated to recognizing the history, heritage, and contributions of Americans with ancestors from Mexico, Spain, the Caribbean, and South and Central America.

According to the schools, nearly 15 percent of their students identify as Hispanic or Latino. The district aims to honor the vibrant Hispanic and Latino community in Central Oregon and within its schools. Educators view this month as an opportunity to learn about and celebrate the diverse histories and cultures of individuals with Hispanic heritage, including students, staff, and community members.

Bend-La Pine Schools encourages recognition of the contributions that enhance the strength of the community.
