"Active Shooter Training Completed by Spartanburg Police Officers"

Reviewed by Todd Vandersline / Spartanburglocal.org

Nearly 100 officers from the Spartanburg Police Department in South Carolina recently completed Active Shooter Training. The officers participated in various scenarios, drills, and received hands-on medical instructions to enhance their readiness to respond to critical situations. The training took place at McCracken Middle School, with the assistance of Spartanburg EMS, Medics Scott Riddle and James Mason, and Thomas Tardo from Valkyrie Tactical Solutions.

Officer Josh Cotê led the medical portions of the training, emphasizing the importance of basic and immediate medical care in life-threatening situations. The instructors, who put in extensive effort to organize the training, are recognized for their dedication to enhancing the officers' skills and knowledge.

In addition to the professionals involved, special thanks were extended to the roll players, including a group of children who contributed to the realistic scenarios. Chick-fil-A Hillcrest Shopping Center provided treats to the participants to acknowledge their hard work and dedication to ensuring the safety and preparedness of the officers.
